Grand Knight
Worthy Brothers

Another years has passed to history.  And yet, a new one has come to take its place.  All the good things we did last year, we can do them again.  And those which were not all that good, well, we can surely improve tem now, can’t we.

And so it is with the life of the Council.  This term we had a most remarkable first half, and we must work hard to keep the momentum.  That should not be too difficult, since our Council is blessed with hard working and dedicated Brother Knights.  Still, there is a good number of you who could lend a hand here and there.  Please make yourself available.  Don’t wait to be called.  If you think you can be of help, offer it!  Give us a call and be assured that your offer will be more than welcome.

In the upcoming six months we will have another series of activities for the entire family and for the community at large.  In just a few days yet another March for Life will take place in Washington.  If you are able, please do attend.  The march is not really that long, and you will be either with fellow Knights or with members of your own parish.  If you have never done it, it’s a treat you will remember for the entire year… and you’ll want to do it again!

We will host again a group of youngsters from Texas, who are coming for that March.  They will spend several nights in Cantrel Hall, beginning with Wednesday 21.  If you can, why don’t you spend one night as a chaperone?  We will also need to serve them a light breakfast before they leave the premises for the March and to so some sightseeing in DC.  If you cannot spend a night, maybe you could come early and help with the breakfast?  Call PGK Neil Dorian (301-977-3840) to volunteer.

We will hold a 1st Degree again on February 12, weather permitting.  PGK Vince Bunag will be making calls to those men who showed interest in joining at our last Membership Blitz.  If you know of a relative or fellow parishioner who would make a good Knight, ASK HIM! Maybe he will join us then.

In February we will have our traditional Night in Roma on the 15th, in March the St. Pat’s Day Dance on the 13th, the Ladies Auxiliary Card Party on the 27th and a 2nd Degree on the 25th.  In April look forward to our Annual Chess Tournament on the 4th and a 1st Degree on the 22nd.  In May we will have our Annual Teachers Appreciation and Awards night on the 7th, the Maryland State Convention will take place the 21st to the 23rd in Ocean City, and on the 28th we will hold a Hawaiian Luau.  Finally, in June we will have our Anniversary Dinner on the 5th, a 1st Degree on the 24th, and a Workers Party the following Saturday.

Don’t be shy, come and join your Knights of Columbus family and have fun with us.  We will be very glad to see you.

Finally, let me remind you that now that winter is with us, the Council policy is to cancel our activities if Montgomery County Public Schools cancels its evening programs.

May you and yours have a peaceful and prosperous New Year, and may our Blessed Mother look upon you always.

Vivat Jesus!
E. Roberto Ibáñez
