- Our members serve each of our parishes
in a variety of ministries.
We
sing and play at their music groups We
are members of Parish Councils and CCD Teachers
We
are Ushers and Lectors We
serve as Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy
Eucharist and as
Adult Acolytes Several
of our members are also Permanent Deacons.
- We serve our Pastors
as much and as long as our Pastors want us to
serve them.
- We hold an annual Day
of Recollection for our members, their families
and friends. It is held either at our
Council Home, or sometimes in conjunction with
one of our parishes.
- Around Veteran's Day,
we have a Memorial Mass celebrated for our Deceased
Brothers, right in Cantrel Hall. Our brother's
widows are our special guests. During the Mass,
at the prayers of the faithful, the names of
those brothers departed during the previous
three years are read aloud, each followed by
a bell toll. This is another way with
which we keep in touch with the families of
our departed brother Knights.
- We are active part of
the "Keep Christ in Christmas" campaign.
Yearly we sell Christmas Cards with decidedly
religious themes, to counter the markedly commercial
themes of most cards today.
- When a Brother Knight
is called to God, with the permission of the
family, we gather at the Funeral Home to pray
a Rosary for the eternal repose of his soul.
This Rosary is led by our Chaplain or by the
Grand Knight. If the brother was a Fourth
Degree member, the Cardinal O'Boyle Assembly
will also provide the casket with an Honor Guard.
- Our Council is concerned
with the decline of vocations to the priesthood
and religious life. To promote them, our
Council supports two seminarians and one postulant
with an annual stipend.
