Rock Creek Council will award up to five scholarships, to graduating 8th graders from Little Flower, Holy Cross, Holy Redeemer, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Bartholomew, or St. Jane de Chantal schools.
The scholarship is a one-year award of $1,000 toward tuition to be paid to the Catholic high school attended by the winner. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, based on the individual's satisfactory academic progress. Up to Five new awards will be made each year, at the participating schools (Each school may receive one, more, or none of the scholarships).
Open to all practicing Catholic students who are graduating from the 8th grade of an elementary school associated with one of the following parishes of which they must be registered members: Church of the Little Flower, Holy Cross, Holy Redeemer, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Bartholomew, and St. Jane de Chantal.
The scholarship is based on scholarship, character, financial need, and completion of an essay on the topic "What the Truths in the Declaration of Independence Mean to Me as a Catholic". Preference will be given to children of members of Rock Creek Council.
Selection will be made by the Scholarship Committee of the Rock Creek Council of the Knights of Columbus, upon the recommendation of the Elementary School Principal.

Although membership in Rock Creek is not absolutely required, it is strongly encouraged and advised for parents to join. Some members of the board have strongly urged that renewal of scholarships for non-members be discontinued.
The awards are made by Rock Creek Council, No. 2797, of the Knights of Columbus. They are endowed by Marion O'Hara, a longtime member of the Council's Seniors Group, in memory of her husband, Charles O'Hara.
